Fun in the Sun

This zine is a playful representation of what animals would do if they had human characteristics. This personification allows more personality to shine through each of the images. Combining bright colors and expressive behaviors results in a feel good scene allowing the viewer's imagination to roam free in this dream world. Pop outs interspersed throughout the pages bring these light hearted characters even more to life. The interactive nature of this zine enables a witty playful adventure that is enjoyable for all ages and invites people in.

Animal stereotypes are either fully played into or completely subverted. For example, a flamingo wearing high heels and requiring a long straw to drink accentuates the stereotype that flamingos already have long skinny legs and definitely don’t need any more height. An alligator that requires floaties and scuba diving gear to swim is a humorous ode to the irony that alligators are well adapted to swimming.
