Brainstorm Blog 1

For my zine I would like to create scenes that first and foremost make people smile, and secondly are unexpected and scenes that you wouldn’t encounter in reality. I was thinking of creating an animal “selfie” book or book of animals doing everyday human things such as driving a car or drinking a cocktail. In order to subvert reality even more, I want to change the pattern of the animals and the things they are using. For example, if a giraffe is eating ice cream, the actual ice cream would be giraffe patterned and the spots on the giraffe would be filled with sprinkles and ice cream colors. Another idea I had was that a cheetah would be driving a car while wearing sunglasses, and both the car and sunglasses would have the cheetah print meanwhile the cheetah would be bright red as a switch with the car. Logistically, I plan to create a photoshop image where I place the animal into the human situations and then use that image as a backdrop for the illustrator image. Afterwards, I think I will take the illustrator image and put it into photoshop to fill in the patterns with photos of actual images of sprinkles or cheetah fur. The result would be illustrator line work and two sections of photorealistic textures, one for the animal and one for the object it is using.
